The Time Dom Pérignon Shuttled Guests to Brooklyn For an Insane Party
As part of the Power of Creation initiative, Dom Pérignon, collaborates with artists who push the boundaries of their craft and who reinvent the language of their discipline without betraying it. In the past, the brand has worked with artist such as Jeff Koons, and John Legend. And, now they’ve partnered with designer Iris van Herpen, who is a member of the prestigious Parisian Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. The designer was tasked with creating a custom label for a limited-edition gift box featuring Dom Pérignon’s Vintage 2004.
To celebrate the unveiling of the Dom Pérignon Limited Edition by Iris van Herpen, which was inspired by metamorphosis: signifying the closure of one period and the birth of another, and a powerful symbol of evolution, transformation and renaissance, guests were shuffled to Pioneer Works Center for Arts and Innovation in Red Hook. Guests arrived to the swanky party either by boat (loaded with Dom P), or by charter bus that left from Manhattan every 15 minutes and sadly this option was champagne free.
However, the sad champagne-less bus guests, upon arrival were greeted with perfectly chilled glasses of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2004 at the outdoor garden area. Inside the venue, we noshed on a specially created menu by Olivier Cheng Catering and Events. The selection included floating trays of Caviar with Golden Beet, Yuzu Mascarpone Gelee on black toast, and Foie Gras Pistachio Truffle with Mostarda. The event also included clever touches reminiscing of a cool beach soirée. On the outdoor area which was filled with sand, the lights were dimmed into a lovely shade of green similar to the newly unveiled gift set. Contortionist dressed in white leotards that appear to have broken mirror applique, wowed guests with incredible stunts. The event also revealed the Cocoonase, an über-premium, made-to-order piece of art created by Iris van Herpen. The work was inspired by the importance of time in crafting each Dom Pérignon Vintage.
The evening also featured the musical stylings of DJ Rachel Chandler-Guinness and a special set from Grammy-nominated, MGMT frontman, Andrew VanWyngarden.
Notables in attendance include Carmelo Anthony, The Jonas Brothers, Michele Hicks, Anja Rubik, Paz de la Huerta, Coco Rocha, Kelly Rutherford.
