Peter Som’s Backstage Beauty
For Spring 2013, Peter Som drew inspiration from the Valley of the Dolls the beauty looks created for the ruwnay reflected a rocker edge with a very feminine spirit or “women on the verge.”
The hair “dusty, grungy, unmkepmt, but still super cool and a little bit luxe,” explained Aura, a Wella Professionals Color Ambassador, is meant to remind you of a “a rich girl gone bad.” Aura, goes on “she parties every night till 4am and rolls out of bed but she still has money and she tries these funky colors on her hair and they fade.” The hair is just a bit messy with a bit fading highlights for a softer the look.
Unlike the hair, which was sort of rocker chic, the nails were very girly. Rebecca Isa using special swatches created a darling custom trio inspired by the collection (available for purchase right now) - Jacqueline, a “nude creme,” Neely, a “creamy mint” and Sharon, a “creamsicle orange,” Using Sharon and Neely, the nail team created a super delicate french manicure with Neely serving as the base and Sharon serving as the tip. The pictures don’t do justice to the nails.
For makeup Tom Pecheux for MAC Cosmetics used a combination of bright yellows and teals to create dramatic eyes to compliment the soft nails.
