You’re Invited: The Launch of Walter Thurmond Foundation for Arts & Education
Tonight, New York Giants Walter Thurmond is hosting a cocktail party in celebration of the launch of the Walter Thurmond Foundation for Arts and Education, in partnership with United Way of New York City’s ReadNYC, Pros for Africa, and Impact Repertory Theater.
The event will be held at Shadow Boxers, the newest upscale bar and restaurant in New York City located in the garment district (215 W.40th Street) at 7 pm. The event will include appearances from Thurmond’s NFL teammates, a silent auction, a VIP reception at 8 pm, where guests can enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres and an hour open bar sponsored by Nicole Murphy’s Destiny Moscato.
Luckily guests will attend the after party will where guests will shuffled to the event via a private yacht with breathtaking views of the city.
This cocktail-attire event serves as a fundraiser to benefit the following organizations: United Way of New York City’s ReadNYC, an initiative that aims to double the number of children reading on grade level by third grade in 10 of NYC’s toughest neighborhoods; Pros for Africa, a volunteer-led, nonprofit organization based in Oklahoma City that encourages professionals of all fields to share what they know, have and create with the children of Africa; Impact Repertory Theater, a Harlem-based performing arts company for the many kids who have entered its walls.
The company provides a safe space where they can explore their full potential without fear of stigma, ridicule or recrimination.
