Dolce and Gabbana Get 20 Month Jail Sentence
Say what? Famed fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are making headlines for something other than their designs or celeb friends. The partners (in crime?) of the Dolce & Gabbana brand have been convicted of tax evasion and the court in Milan has sentenced them to 20 months in jail. Along with this sentence, the designers have also been fined over 300 million euros by the Italian Tax Commission.
The judge ruled that the D&G brand was sold in 2004 to holding company Gado to avoid declaring taxes on royalties amounting to an estimated $1.3 billion. One of the defense lawyers for Dolce and Gabbana commented that they plan to appeal, as the pair denies the charges.
