Glam Rocking at The Moth Ball
We had the pleasure of attending this year’s glam rock themed Moth Ball, and it was, as always, an absolute blast! Guests arrived to cocktails at Capitale, where there was a glam rock photo booth complete with boas and glittery accessories, a rolling bar driven by performance artists Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw, serving up beer and shots, and a DJ spinning the best glam rock hits. Celebs such as Broad City’s Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, Molly Ringwald, and Portlandia’s Carrie Brownstein were fantastically glammed out on the red carpet. An online auction with prizes ranging from drinks with Molly Ringwald to a walk on roll in Portlandia concluded on the evening of the ball with guests participating in last minute bidding on fun celebrity experiences.
The main event was a show hosted by the absolutely hilarious Baratunde Thurston, and he did not disappoint. Celeb stylist Suzi Ronson told her story about how she helped create David Bowie’s vibrant spiky hair, and the evening filled with story slams from various other Moth storytellers, including stories by students from The Moth’s High School program.
Portlandia’s Carrie Brownstein, the evening’s honoree, was awarded The Moth Award by Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer in recognition of her art of raconteur. The evening was rounded out with a dance party spun by DJ Kristin Kontrol.
