Hot! Swizz Beatz, Nate “Danja” Hills, Honored at SESAC 14th Annual Awards Gala

This past Wednesday, SESAC, the nation’s fastest growing performing rights organization honored some of today’s most prolific and prestigious songwriters and publishers at the 14th Annual Awards Gala.

The gala held at the splashy IAC building,  were attendees and guests were to treated dinner and performances.  The star-studded affair drew the likes of Swizz Beatz, who received the “Inspiration Award” for the song titled “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour),” the song which raised millions of dollars for Haiti was co-written with Bono and performed by Bono, Jay Z and Rihanna. Though, top honors for the evening went to Nate “Danja” Hills who swept the top categories when he was named “Songwriter of the Year,” along with the trophy for “Song Of The Year” for his Keri Hilson smash, “Knock You Down” which topped Billboard’s “R&B/Hip Hop Songs” chart. Hills, publishing company Danjahandz Muzik, also won the SESAC publisher of the year.  Can we say swept?

Other winners included, Angela Haute, who wrote the “Empire State of Mind” and K. Briscoe who took home a trophy for her with “Womanizer,” performed by Britney Spears; Jaylen Wesley took an award for the “Beautiful,” as performed by Akon; other songwriters honored were Jay Felix for “It Kills Me, ” by Melanie Fiona, along with Rico Love for “Sweet Dreams,” by Beyonce.

Notable attendees include Russell Simmons with niece Angela, Estelle, Swizz Beatz with son, and Island Def Jam’s Phil Robinson.
