Get the (Beauty) Look: Jessica Alba at the 2014 Met Gala
How does Jessica Alba make walking the red carpet look like such a breeze every time? At the 2014 Met Gala, the beauty wore Diane von Furstenberg (the designer seen here posing with her Met Gala beauties, which also included Selena Gomez), pairing it with a lovely 50’s-inspired updo and luminous makeup look.
It was gold on gold as far as the makeup look created by Avon Global Celebrity Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen went. Andersen explains, “We wanted to create a monochromatic look so I used gold on her eyes so that everything looked seamless.” Here’s the breakdown on how she created Alba’s final look that you can try at home too:
FACE: Apply Koh Gen Do Foundation and Kevin Aucoin Concealer as a base. Highlight the bridge of the noise using Kevin Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight. Finish with Lorac Mineral Bronzer on the cheeks.
EYES: Use Votre Vu Brow Wax on the eyebrows. Blend Avon’s Eye Dimensions Eyeshadow in Khaki Chic on the lids to create a golden look. Layer on the lightest shade from the Avon Eye Dimensions Eyeshadow in Bronze Star. Next, line the eyes with Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner in Intense Brown. Finish with Avon Mega Effects Mascara in Black.
LIP: Apply Avon Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick in Caramel Comfort to complete the look.
As for Alba’s hairstyle, celeb stylist Davy Newkirk worked a variety of John Frieda products into her locks to ensure the final look remained in place. Here’s how to recreate the lovely, uber feminine look:
Liberally apply John Frieda Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse throughout wet hair to shape waves. Use a large round brush and hairdryer to provide some structure. Create an extreme side part and work your way around the head, curling small sections of hair with a ¾ inch barrel iron. Let the curls set and cool for a few minutes.
Next, brush out the curls with a flat brush and apply John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-up Crème for a smooth and shiny texture. Roll up sections from ear to ear along the bottom edge of the hairline and secure with bobby pins. Last but not least, spray John Frieda Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray to lock the style in place.
