WATCH: Live Stream the Costume Institute Benefit’s Red Carpet
Want to join one of fashion’s most lavish fêtes of the year? For the first time ever, red carpet arrivals at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s celebrated Costume Institute Benefit (or the Met Ball) will be live streamed online on Monday, May 7, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on the websites of Vogue, Amazon, and the Met. This year’s benefit will be hosted by Vogue’s William Norwich and model Elettra Wiedemann – you can expect to see interviews with gala co-chairs Carey Mulligan, Miuccia Prada, Anna Wintour, along with the celebrities joining them from the worlds of fashion, film, art, and more. For the inside scoop on what it’s like prepping for the big night, check out the Celebs on Facebook page, www.facebook.com/celebs.
The Costume Institute Benefit takes place annually as a launch to an accompanying exhibition at the Met. This year, it corresponds with the upcoming exhibition Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, on view May 10 through August 19, 2012. The exhibition will explore the striking affinities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, Italian designers from different eras. We can’t wait to see the signature pieces!
Get up to the minute deets by following the Met on Facebook and Twitter, and get in on the conversation about both the exhibition and gala benefit with the hashtags #ImpossibleConversations and #MetGala. Plus, submit your questions with #MetQuestions while hosts Norwich and Wiedemann take five extra questions from viewer submissions for the celebs. We’ll definitely be tweeting!
The Costume Institute Benefit is called many things, but we at TFR like referring to it as the “Oscars of the East Coast.” One thing is for sure—as one of the year’s most high profile and renowned gatherings, the gala draws the biggest stars to hit the red carpet, taking fashion risks like no other social event.
Who are you excited to see? Our lips are sealed for now, but our fingers are crossed for our favorites to wow us…
