If like us, you’re counting down to the premiere of The Great Gatsby, this how-to is sure to make its way onto your beauty to-do list.

Inspired by one of the film’s main character’s Daisy Buchanan (played by Carey Mulligan), CHI Creative Artist Anna Cantu shares how to get the popular faux bob look that is beyond reminiscent of the roaring twenties. Cantu says, “The Great Gatsby is a unique film in the sense that it is very much like a runway show at New York Fashion Week. While it’s meant to entertain, it goes far beyond that by being a style lexicon and inspiring women’s hairstyles for the coming season.”

Get your hairstyling tools ready, because here’s how to get the look, step by step!

Step 1: Create a side part.

Step 2: Smooth all of the hair with a CHI Hairstyling Iron. Direct hair ends inward with the iron.

Step 3: Smooth flyways around the part and hairline using Farouk Royal Treatment By CHI White Truffle Foundation.

Step 4: Part the hair into three sections - one in the back and two side sections using your side part as a guide.

Step 5: Lift the back section and spray Farouk Royal Treatment by CHI Ultimate Control Hairspray underneath.

Tease the bottom layer towards the scalp and cover remaining hair on top.

Step 6: Roll the back section up and inward at the nape. Pin to create a faux bob.

Step 7: Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the side sections.

Step 8: Shape the fringe into a smooth wave on the right side of the face. Secure with a hair clip and spray with Farouk Royal Treatment by CHI Ultimate Control Hairspray.

Let sit for 10 min or until set, and then remove the clip.

Step 9: Add accessories for extra '20's flair and you're set!

The film opens on May 10th.
