Hot! TGIF Cocktail Recipe of the Day: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Style and with Fancy Cocktails

Kick on Cinco de Mayo in style and with grace. How? With Tequila inspired cocktails of course. If you’re lost on what to create? Fret not because we’ve got you covered. Take a peek at some fancy cocktails to ring in Cinco de Mayo, like its 1999.

THE HORSESHOE MARGARITA

2 parts Tequila Herradura Silver
1 part fresh squeezed lime juice
0.5-0.75 part agave nectar (to taste)
Directions:

Directions: Combine all the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake hard so that some of the ice melts, then strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Corona Sunset Directions: Shake all ingredients with ince until chilled. Serve into pink plass and fill with ice-cold Corona Exta. Garnish with orange twist.

The Twisted Margarita

2 parts Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila
¾ parts lime juice
½ part triple sec
½ part simple syrup
1 teaspoon mustard powder
Mustard seed and sea salt rim

Directions: Rim glass with a slice of lime. Roll rim of glass in grounded mustard seed and sea salt mixture . Combine Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila, lime, simple syrup, triple sec and mustard powder into a shaking tin. Fill half way with ice and shake for 10 seconds. Strain over ice in a rimmed rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and serve.

C is for Cinco

2 parts CRUZ Reposado Tequila
½ part almond liqueur
½ part simple syrup
4 drops of vanilla extract
1 egg white
Shaved chocolate for garnish

Directions: Combine CRUZ Reposado Tequila, almond liqueur, vanilla, egg whites and simple syrup into shaking tin. Dry shake without ice for 15 second; then fill half way with ice and shake for additional 5 seconds. Double strain using a mesh fine strainer into a coupe glass. Shave chocolate over half the drink to enjoy your ‘black & white’ inspired cocktail!

El Vocho
4 parts Milagro Reposado
4 parts Dole Pineapple Juice
10 Cilantro Leaves
10 Mint Leaves
1 Small Slice Jalapeño

Directions: In one shooter glass, pour Reposado neat. Blend all other ingredients together and pour in the second shooter glass.

Jalapaloma

1 ½ oz. Blue Nectar Silver, infused with Jalapeno
½ oz. Grand Marnier
1 jalapeno
½ oz. lime juice
¾ oz. agave nectar
2 oz. grapefruit juice
Crushed orange slice

Directions: Chop jalapeno and infuse using Blue Nectar’s method. Add infused tequila, Grand Marnier, lime juice, agave nectar, and grapefruit juice to a shaker. Shake well. Garnish with an orange slice.

SPICY RASPBERRY MARGARITA

1.5 oz. el Jimador Reposado
0.5 oz. Chambord
1 oz. Sprite
2 oz. sour mix
3 dashes of Tabasco

Directions: Combine ingredients and shake with ice. Pour into margarita glass rimmed with spicy salt. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Mexican Victor-ita
1 ½ parts Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
½ part DeKuyper® Triple Sec
4 parts cranberry juice
2 parts orange juice
2 oranges
½ cup cranberries, frozen (optional)
2 tbsp. sugar

Directions: First make your garnishes. Freeze ½ cup of cranberries. Using a channel knife cut a long spiral from on orange (see if you can make it all the way in one try!) and cut into 6 inch pieces. Twist the peels around your bar spoon and reserve for garnish. Zest the other orange with a spice grater to remove just the peel and none of the pith and combine with sugar. Cut the zested orange into wedges. Rub a wedge of orange around half the rim of your glasses. Roll the glasses through the sugared orange zest. In a shaker, combine the rest of the sugar and orange zest mixture with the cranberry juice, orange juice, Sauza® Blue Silver, orange liqueur, and the juice from the orange. Twist the orange peel over the drink and place on the prepared glass. Top with frozen cranberries and serve your cocktail! Salud!

Spicy Watermelon Fresca

1.5 oz Partida Blanco
3/4 oz Cointreau
4-5 pieces watermelon
2 strips jalapeno (cut from top to bottom of jalapeno)

Directions: Muddle the watermelon and jalapeno in a mixing glass. Add other ingredients and shake with ice. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.Spicy Watermelon Fresca

This tequila cocktail boasts cool, refreshing flavors of watermelon with a hint of heat from added jalapeno.

1.5 oz Partida Blanco
3/4 oz Cointreau
4-5 pieces watermelon
2 strips jalapeno (cut from top to bottom of jalapeno)

Directions: Muddle the watermelon and jalapeno in a mixing glass. Add other ingredients and shake with ice. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.

Bandera de Puebla

1 oz. Patron Reposado
1 oz. Patron Citronge Lime
.5 oz. Coconut Cream
.75 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
.75 oz Pomegranate Juice
Mint Sprig for Garnish

Directions: Combine the Patron Reposado, Citronge Lime, Coconut & Lime Juice in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Gently pour the Pomegranate Juice so it settles to the bottom half of the drink creating two equal layers of white and red. Garnish with a sprig of mint to represent the three colors of the Mexican flag.
