Beautiful People at The Brooklyn Artist Ball in the Brooklyn Museum
Recently at The Brooklyn Artist Ball, Director Dr. Arnold Lehman and Honorary Chair Marisa Tomei, along with more than 600 art world luminaries gathered at the Brooklyn Museum to honor Elizabeth A. Sackler (recipient of the Augustus Graham Medal), artist Matha Rosler, Amy Sillman, and Mickalene Thomas (recipients of the Asher B. Durand Award). Guest included Connie Chung, The Dinner Party artist Judy Chicago, Eileen Guggenheim, True Blood actor Hans Tester, and many more.
Sackler announced the establishment of the Sackler Family Endowed Curator in Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. The position, created by a major gift made by members of the Sackler family, will endow the salary and activities of the Curator of the Sackler Center for Feminist Art, a position currently held by Catherine J. Morris. Funds raised benefited the Museum’s education, exhibition and outreach programs. Prior to dinner, cocktails and the awards presentation were illuminated by the debut of artist Nicole Cohen‘s new immersive video installation.
The eventful evening was closed by Mia Moretti spinning for over 1000 guests in the museum’s Rubin Pavilion at the Brooklyn Artists Ball After Party. —-Tania Jen
