Maille Releases a Spring 2016 Collection of Gourmet Mustards
Spring collections aren’t just for fashion anymore. French brand Maille, known for its Dijon mustard (for more than 265 years, in fact!) has released a limited-edition collection of gourmet vegetable-flavored mustards called Les Jardins Secrets des Chefs (French for The Chefs’ Secret Gardens).
The packaging of the mustard trio is bright, elegant and reminiscent of spring indeed with its green and teal tones. In the boxed set, three 3.8 oz jars of different flavors are just waiting to be tasted. The flavors are Mustard with White Wine, Beet and a Hint of Honey, Mustard with Olives and Herbes de Provence, and Mustard with Carrot and a Hint of Shallot.
There’s a recipe/serving suggestion that we will definitely be trying with the Mustard with White Wine, Beet and a Hint of Honey: serve it on crostini with a creamy cheese (such as goat cheese or ricotta) and top with nuts for texture– slivered almonds or pistachios – sound so good, right?
In the meantime, we’ve already dug into the other two varietals. The Mustard with Olives and Herbes de Provence paired superbly with potatoes for a zesty kick to a potato salad we made this week… and we’ll admit we made steak and potatoes, so we slathered on some of the Mustard with Carrot and a Hint of Shallot to the filets to add a touch of that signature mustard spice with a hint of sweetness from the key carrot ingredient. If we added a side salad to this dinner, we could have totally concocted a delicious Dijon vinaigrette with the White Wine, Beet and a Hint of Honey flavor too…
Available today through August 31, the boxed set of three flavors retails for $45 and makes a nice gift for any foodie or loved one who loves to entertain. The individual jars are also available for purchase for $12 each.
Where to purchase: online at maille.com or at the Maille boutique in NYC (185 Columbus Avenue at 68th Street).
