Hot! Where to Eat: Prandial

Private Dining Room

If you’re looking for a comfortable space with an unfussy atmosphere to dine and spend time with your favorite people look no further than Prandial Restaurant.

So what sets Prandial apart from local establishments? That’s simple. The staff is welcoming, the cocktails are refreshing (and incredibly wallet friendly at $14 a pop), the ambiance is welcoming and most importantly the dishes are savory; the combination leads to an experience that will leave you pleased. We certainly were.

Prandial, the brain child of Mark Stern, serves a delightful selection of “American” inspired dishes with a french flair to Flatiron denizens. The “progressive American” menu (as referred by Prandial), created by Michellen star French chef Pierre Rougey, includes everything from Crispy Duck & Ginger Salad ($14), to Grilled Ribeye ($35), to Smoked Berkshire Pork Chop ($24), and Seared Wild Striped Bass ($26) and so many more.

So, what should you nosh on during your visit?  We suggest starting with either the Avocado & Crab Salad ($15) which is surprisingly light yet so yummy; or if you are allergic to shell fish, the Artichoke Salad ($12). The salad is not only packed with flavor but it is also hearty, so its perfect for sharing.  As for the main dish you won’t go wrong with any of the fish dishes and in particular the Seared Wild Striped Bass ($26). Perfectly crafted the combination of the baby fennel and pickled chanterelle will leave you wanting seconds but stay the course. After all you’ll need room for the epic desserts.  If you love a good sweat treat the Banana Upside Down Tart will infiltrate your dreams for days to come. You’ve been warned.

Once done don’t leave right away. Stay awhile, grab a drink from the mid-18th century rustic looking bar complements of a woodworking shop in Connecticut.  Prandial’s charming décor is rounded up with vintage accents including old theatrical lights and brass chandeliers.
