Stop the Presses: Woodford Reserve Has a New Product… Hint Its a New Rye Whiskey
As you might read Bourbon/Whiskey is currently experiencing a huge jump in among non-traditional drinkers. In fact, Rye Whiskey has grown 40% over the past five years (according to a July 2014 Nielsen report) and the Rye Whiskey category is growing at 40% year-over-year. So, its not entirely surprising that companies are lining up to create new offerings to meet the new demand. Case in point: Woodford Reserve, recently debuted the Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey. The new blend, only the third permanent product from the brand, took 10 years of research to bring market. “One of the primary reasons behind Woodford’s growth into the number one selling ultra-premium bourbon in America is because of our commitment to flavor, and that’s engrained in everything we do. Not only does it affect how I approach bourbon production personally, it’s the lens through which we view the future of Woodford Reserve, and I couldn’t think of a liquid that better embodies that than the rye,” explained Chris Morris, Woodford Reserve’s master distiller on creating the new spirit.
The new blend uses a base of 53% rye, is balanced and refreshingly subtle, with a distinct emphasis on spice. The result is a powerful tasting whiskey with full of flavor. If this new blend piques your interest, it has a suggested retail price of $37.99 for 750ml and currently available for purchase at select U.S.
