Hot! So… Today is National Margarita Day

Stop what you’re doing right now because today is National Margarita Day. In fact, if legend is correct, this year marks the 75th Anniversary of the tasty summer treat. We know–crazy but awesome. Who knew there was an entire day devoted to this delicious cocktail?

According to reports, the Margarita was created by a bartender named Danny Herrera, in a bar in Mexico (isn’t that all good stories begin?) in 1938, to indulge actress Marjorie King. Legend has it that Herrera, created the special treat because Ms. King was allergic to all forms of alcohol except Tequila and the rest as they say is history.

Caliente Cuervo Margarita

1.25 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver
1.25 oz. Triple Sec
1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
1 Sliced and Seeded jalapeño pepper
Chili Salt to taste
Ice

Directions:
Rim a margarita glass with chili salt. In a shaker muddle 2-5 jalapeno slices to achieve desired heat. Add Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver, fresh squeezed lime juice and triple sec to a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a glass with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge or jalapeno and enjoy.

Blood Orange Margarita

1 ½ parts Tequila Avión
¾ part Cointreau Orange Liqueur
1 part Blood Orange Juice
½ part Fresh Sour Mix

Directions: In a cocktail shaker add all ingredients with ice. Shake and strain; best served over fresh ice and garnish with an orange twist.

Spicy Margarita

2 oz. Blanco tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
3/4 oz. lime juice
2 slices Jalapeno
Pinch of cilantro

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and add ice. Shake and strain into an iced rocks glass. Garnish with Cilantro and Jalapeno Spiral.

Quirida by Qui Tequila

1.5 ounces of Qui Tequila
1/2 ounce of orange flavor liqueur
1 ounce of fresh puree tamarind
3 sprigs of mint
splash of fresh lemon and lime

Directions: Break the mint to release oils. Put all ingredients in shaker. Shake very hard. Pour in tall glass. Garnish with sprig of mint.

RIO RITA

2 oz Cuca Fresca Gold Cachaça
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz Cointreau.
.5 oz simple syrup

Directions: Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake well. Pour, without straining, into a rocks glass. Salt rim is optional!

* Margarita recipe for those who "do not do" tequila.

Pomegranate Margarita

5 parts Skinnygirl® Margarita
1 Tbsp pomegranate seeds

Direction: Muddle the pomegranate seeds in a glass. Add Skinnygirl Margarita. Fill the rest of the glass with ice. Stir until combined.

Hornitos® Classic Margarita

2 parts Hornitos® Plata Tequila
1 part agave nectar
1 part fresh lime

Directions: Shake and strain. Serve on the rocks.

Sauza® Strawberry Margarita

2/3 part Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila*
1/3 part DeKuyper® Strawberry Patch Schnapps Liqueur
1 part Frozen Limeade
1 part Sparkling Wine
1 part Water
Handful of Strawberries

Directions: combine all ingredients in a pitcher with ice. Mix well. Add fresh sliced strawberries. Stir and enjoy. (Serves 6)

Basil Hayden's® Bourbon Margarita

5 parts Basil Hayden's ® Bourbon
3 3/4 parts Grand Marnier
3 3/4 parts Rose's Lime Juice or Fresh Lime Juice
5 parts Sour Mix

Directions: Mix or shake until combined. Chill and serve.

ISLAND MARGARITA

2 oz. TY KU Coconut Sake
1 oz. Silver Tequila
0.5 oz. Grand Marnier
0.5 oz. Agave Nectar
0.5 oz. fresh lime juice

Directions: Fill mixing glass with ice, add all ingredients, and shake vigorously. Strain over fresh ice.
