Vivienne Tam Fall 2012
WHO WAS THERE: Russell Simmons, Kevin Saer, Rebecca Blumhagen, Bebe Neuwirth
WHAT WE THOUGHT: Get ready for lots of layers next Fall season: layered textures, fabrics, and styles. It’s all about prints and different variations of fabrics.Models stomped down the runway in striped wide-leg men’s trousers and tweed trousers and dresses. As well as feminine chiffon beaded tops and penciled skirts in jacquard and leather. Vivienne layered different textures, prints, and colors while combining different clothing types to create one look. Color contrasting, print fabrics on different print fabrics like a quilted zigzag printed coat coupled with a printed zigzag asymmetrical skirt over a skinny jacquard printed pant. Sounds like a mouth full? Well it was but somehow it all fit together.
Besides the sleek separates, the collection also included a strong selection of outerwear pieces. Standout included the contrast faux shearling coat with leather collar and lapel black—super chic. As well as the lightweight silk jacquard contrast sleeve blazer with leather collar.
Above every single piece presented during the runway show, the complete showstopper for me was the Mongolian fur scarf. Paired with anything the scarf was the cherry on top of the outfit; taking its partner to the next level. — Ayanna Barton
