#NYFW: Alon Livné Fall 2014
Alon Livné’s star is steadily rising. Recently Lady Gaga, Paris Hilton, and Beyonce have worn his designs. His Fall 2014 collection, which debuted this past Fashion Week at The Hub, demonstrates why we can expect a lot more from this young designer.
The offerings are no doubt mesmerizing and clever. The designs are not typical of an American designer, some models for instance wore visually stunning and intricate crystal-adorned head pieces. The difference in design and style aesthetic for this collection is perhaps due to his background. Livné, after all was a contestant on Israel’s version of Project Runway along with the seemingly unique inspiration–the themes from George Melford’s silent film, The Sheik, a movie that documents early imperialism in Morocco.
The combination results in a wildly energetic selection of red-carpet appropriate ensembles. The silhouettes, mostly of which are in silk, are slightly loose and like the head pieces are adorned with crystals and feature lace accents.
