Elise Overland F/W 2011
Elise Overland presented her Fall/Winter 2011 collection on ice (yes, you’ve read that right) at The Standard Hotel, New York Ice Rink. Items from the collection were presented in collaboration with Ice Theater New York. In a stunning presentation of beautiful clothes, ice dancers performed around stoic models, and before a fantastic ice sculpture carved by artist Keith Edmier, and amid a crowd of spectators braving the cold to witness the stunning unveiling.
Overland’s collaboration with Ice Theater New York for the performance element of the show began with Johnny Weir, a three-time U.S. National Champion ranked 12th in the world for figure skating.
“When Elise saw Johnny Weir perform, she told us she would love to have him in the show,” said Moira North, Founder and Director of Ice Theater New York. Weir’s sensational performance reflected the vibrancy of the colors and lines of Overland’s collection. The performance combined movement and constancy, enhancing the viewing experience of Elise Overland’s stunning collection.
“We had to maintain a certain composure with the element of exercising the body,” said Ray Levine, a skater model for Ice Theater New York.
The collection consisted of separates such-as jackets, tailor pants and dresses in vibrant colors and slinky fabrics. Our favorite: a striking wide shouldered vest encrusted in tiles of mother of pearl!
