Rebecca Minkoff F/W 2011
Spotted Front Row: Rebecca Minkoff had a celeb studded front-row that included the likes of Jessica Szohr, Katrina Bowden, Kat Deluna, Joy Bryant, Eve, Michelle Trachtenberg, Derek Fabulous (of Derek loves shopping), Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt.
Design Inspiration: “….inspired by the modern practicality of my[ Rebecca Taylor] own eclectic style. Unexpected mixed textures – supple leather, rich tweeds, fluid chiffon – the collection is an approachable mix of luxury that chases after bohemian muse Charlotte Kemp Muhl.”
Top looks: We loved the lace leggings, the slightly over-sized tuxedo blazer, and of course the gorgeous knits.
What We thought: The live performance from Sean Lennon and Rebecca Minkoff’s muse (and Sean Lennon’s girlfriend) Charlotte Kemp set the tone for the collection – that of a modern gypsy. In her first foray into apparel, Minkoff, presented a delightful collection, proving she can design more than just luxurious handbags.
While the flowing the chiffon dresses are charming and wearable the best examples demonstrating Minkoff’s design ability are best seen in the tailored pieces and in particular the jackets. These tuxedo jackets are statements pieces most women will want to wear and will want to have in their closets and wear season-to-season much like a handbag.
It is clears Rebecca Minkoff understands the needs of her customers and women. Certainly Minkoff told a story that was compelling and hopefully can be repeated.
