#NYFW Backstage Hair Report: Ruffian Fall 2014
Catwalk by TIGI® Global Creative Director Nick Irwin is certainly killing it this season. From show to show, he and his team continue to create vastly different looks suited to each designer and drawing from the same inspiration.
The inspiration for the Ruffian Fall 2014 collection came from medieval textiles and paintings, with an emphasis on “flamboyant silhouettes of the Glam Rock movement.” To complement this vision, Irwin created a look titled a proper blow out that featured volume at the crown, an ever-so-slight curl, and a blown-back hairline. Here’s how to get the look:
#1: Mist dry hair with water and, sectioning hair, spray roots generously with CATWALK® by TIGI® Your Highness Root Boost Spray. Using a round brush, blow dry hair straight with a slight bend at the ends, lifting hair at the root and blowing back at the crown.
#2: Next, divide hair vertically into 4 sections and spray each section with CATWALK® by TIGI® Session Series Work It Hairspray. Using a 2-inch barrel curling iron, curl hair horizontally to the nape of the neck and spray again before unclamping and removing the iron from the hair without unraveling. Set curl with a duckbill clip and spray the Work It Hairspray once more.
#3: After hair has cooled, remove clips and brush smooth with a flat brush. Lightly tease roots at the crown with a fine tooth comb and brush back using a flat brush.
#4:. Using your fingers, scrunch hair from the bottom to break up the length for a natural movement. Finish with CATWALK® by TIGI® Session Series Work It Hairspray.
