#NYFW Backstage Beauty: Kaelen Fall 2015
“The look was inspired by David Lynch’s Twin Peaks,” explained Amy Farid who was backstage prepping the models hair using amika products. “So we went with a very sexy 90’s hair with a deep side part but hair that looks modern.” To create the look Amy prepped the damp hair using amika’s Bombshell Blowout Spray. She also created a deep side part and proceeded to “rough dry” the hair. Once the hair was dry, Amy used amika’s Digital Titanium 25mm Pro Curler. She curled the hair away from the face and set each curl with a pin curl clip. She let it sit for five minute before letting it loose to create the soft wavy hair and then continuing styling. The trick she explained was to comb to hair away from the face and create a slight wave on the front to get the look just right. And it so right it was.
On the nails KISS’s Gina Edwards created a gorgeous nail also inspired by Twin Peaks. The nail:a double a Chevron was created my mixing KISS Mickey Mouse Me and Slipped Off nail lacquers to create a custom color that (a beautiful caramel color). The nails were prepped ahead of time using nails from the 100 Oval Kiss kit. And on the nails the custom color along with ready made Chevron nail stickers to create the polish look.
As for the makeup MAC’s Chantel Miller went for a fresh yet modern look. The models wore no eyeliner and no mascara so the focus was on the lips. The color Lady Danger, was carefully applied on lips using the fingers instead of a brush with a focus. This was done to create a good amount of lip intensity.
