Take a Peek at the First Official Portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge
This morning in UK time, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, attended the unveiling of her FIRST official royal portrait at the National Portrait Gallery in London. The image was released with the following quote on the Kate and William’s official site:
The Duchess explained that she would like to be portrayed naturally – her natural self – as opposed to her official self. She struck me as enormously open and generous and a very warm person. After initially feeling it was going to be an unsmiling portrait I think it was the right choice in the end to have her smiling – that is really who she is.
Am I the only who feels punked with this image? I get that she wanted a “natural” look. But why does she look 20 years older? And, what’s up with the misty background? After careful consideration, I am left with the only logical conclusion–the Duchess is living in an alternate universe. Said universe is 20 years from today. After all, how else would you explain that Mona Lisa smirk? Kate is mocking us with the air of superiority that only a person who has been to the future and back can muster. Think about it, I am probably right. Perhaps am not being punk. Well played Kate. Or perhaps, Kate herself is being punk an is stuck with age accelerator mirror. You know like the types found in Hogwarts. For the Duchess sake, I hope its the former.
