The Easiest DIY Self Tanner… Ever
We know: #thestruggleisreal with it being not just any Monday, but the first Monday after the holiday break. Most of us are back at work, daydreaming of laying on the beach to get our sunkissed glow on. If you’re coming out of your hibernation looking a little more pasty and a little less golden than you’d like, you’ll be glad to know that Jamie Ahn, Founder and Creative Director of Townhouse Spa, has given us the awesome scoop on how to put two household ingredients you most likely already have lying around to use to make an easy and DHA-free self tanner.
Enter the equation of lotion + cacao powder = DIY goodness. In one application, blend 1/4 cup of 100% cacao powder into 1/4 cup of plain body lotion (preferably unscented) until the powder dissolves into the lotion. Even though it may look dark, it will go on much lighter on the body. Add more powder to create a darker effect as desired.
If the DIY route isn’t your thing or if two ingredients is already one too many, know that Townhouse Spa also offers a Rapid Bronze Spray Tan option that is certified organic (with no odor), done in 10-15 minutes, and customizable with three shades. A patented moisture lock keeps skin hydrated and helps extend the life of the tan. One session runs $65 and a package of 2 sessions is $110.
